One day we will live in a world where the unfriendly is appreciated more than friendly, where we can keep our countenances dull, bored, and unimpressed without someone telling us to smile. One day we will be able to tell people, “I'm not in the mood to talk, please go away,” without it being socially unacceptable. One day…one day…

Literally me on my birthday and there's nothing wrong with that. Who needs tons of friends when you have two friends who are practically like family? Friends that stay up and hold you into the night when you're crying, friends who drop their plans when you tell them you're having a hard time. Friends who show up when you didn't ask or expect them to. Some people may still prefer the former of having more friends over quality.

23 Introvert Memes That Accurately Depict the Desire to be Alone (January 28, 2025)
Introverts, unite! Being introverted is like having a super power, the power to guiltlessly ignore people, give them the cold shoulder, cancel plans, and enjoy being alone more than anything. We all need to recuperate from the week in our own way. Some people enjoy having a drink with some friends, or going to watch the sunset, or going on a date night with their beloved, and some people prefer the quiet of their own bedroom unbothered.
Regardless of how you prefer to spend your downtime, there's something uncanny about the predictability of an introvert's social battery. One minute you think everything is all fun and games, and the next minute you are heading to the bathroom to get a breath of fresh air before abruptly leaving your friend's apartment. From the constant throes of social discomfort, it's impressive enough to have friends and make social plans at all. With 8 hour shifts around other people, being forced to talk to them, to the potential of having roommates and coming home to yet more people, your friends may sometimes take the backseat.
